Joan and Bill Kuebker became involved with St. Mary's in 1975, following Bill's retirement from the Air Force. Avid supporters of St. Mary's athletics, the Kuebkers attended basketball games in West Virginia, Nevada, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and throughout Texas. Since 1980, they had attended all but one of the Rattlers' appearances in NAIA National Tournaments and followed the team to its first NCAA Tournament.

They were present for both the 1986 Women's Softball National Championship and the 1989 Men's Basketball Championship, and followed the 2001 national champion baseball team to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament. As boosters and fans, they supported St. Mary's in four different decades, and opened their home to students and athletes. Bill was instrumental in developing the St. Mary's Athletics Mouthguard Program (1982-1996). Upon his retirement from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in 2000, Bill was named Professor Emeritus.
