Michael Zolecki made his mark on the St. Mary’s University baseball program during his three years with the team, then took that experience and played at the highest levels of professional baseball. Zolecki compiled a 20-9 overall record with 206 strikeouts in 206.2 innings of work as a Rattler. He had a career earned run average of 4.01 with 13 complete games in 34 starts. During his senior season, he was named All-Heart of Texas Conference First Team after 
going 9-6 with a 3.91 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 96.2 innings. Zolecki was a member of two Heart of Texas championship teams and the 1993 team that advanced to the NAIA College World Series.
 
His play caught the eye of professional scouts and he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fifth round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft, the second-highest drafted player in St. Mary’s history. He went on to spend the next five years in the Rockies organization and also played with the Chicago White Sox farm system for a year. In 1994 he was named by Baseball America as one of the Rockies Top Prospects for the entire organization.

After his time as a player, Zolecki went on to coaching, becoming the head baseball coach at Cardinal Stritch University and became a member  f the ABAC Baseball Coaches Association.
