Pitcher/Designated Hitter (1986-1989)

Mark Christian burst onto the St. Mary’s athletic scene in 1986, garnering Conference Freshman of the Year honors for his 4-0 record and 42 strikeouts on the mound. He started a team-high 37 games in his four-year pitching career with the Rattlers, and in 1988-89, was named to the All-Area team and to All-District and All-Conference First Teams.

Christian’s pitching talent and desire to win were key in helping the Rattlers clinch the inaugural Heart of Texas Conference title in 1988. Christian also played an instrumental role as a designated hitter. As a senior, he led the Rattlers with nine home runs to go along with his 9-3 record on the mound and a team-high 86.1 innings pitched.

Christian finished his four-year career with a 22-6 record and 172 strikeouts as well as 17 home runs and 54 runs at the plate.
