Monique Fluellen, an award-winning pitcher, helped the Rattlers qualify for four consecutive appearances in the NAIA National Softball tournament, including a pair of fifth-place finishes. Fluellen earned an at-large selection in 1994 to participate in the U.S. Olympic Softball tryout camp in Oklahoma City for the 1996 Olympics.

During her time at St. Mary’s, Fluellen won a slew of honors for her prestige on the diamond. She started off quick, becoming Freshman of the Year in 1991 and went on to become a four-time NAIA All-American. Fluellen was also named Most Valuable Player twice.

After graduating from St. Mary’s in 1994 with a B.B.A. in marketing, Fluellen continued playing competitive softball at the professional level. During the summers of 1993 and 194, she played fast pitch softball for the Montclair Majestics in New Jersey in the Women’s ASA Major Division. Fluellen went on to play for the Orlando Wahoos in the Women’s Professional Fast Pitch League in the summer of 1997. She also coached the Houstonians, a select 18-and-under fast pitch team from 1998 to 2000, leading the team to a fifth-place finish in the 1999 World Series.

In 2004, she obtained an M.B.A. in management from Our Lady of the Lake University while working full-time.
