Bio
Still holding the St. Mary’s record for innings pitched, Jeff Appelt was a four-time Heart of Texas Conference champion and helped lead the team to three post-season appearances — including the 1996 NAIA World Series. After earning Heart of Texas Freshman of the Year honors in 1996, Appelt went on to earn First-Team All-Conference honors in 1998 and 1999 as well as Honorable Mention All-American honors as a senior in 1999 after winning 13 games — a mark that still ranks third 20 years later. Appelt ranks second in school history with 78 career appearances and 54 games started, and is third with 38 victories. The Rattlers sported a 151-72 record throughout Appelt’s career, including a 65-21 record in Heart of Texas Conference action.
Currently
Since graduating from St. Mary's in 1999, Appelt has worked for the U.S. Government in Washington D.C., supporting national intelligence missions by specializing in supply chain management and logistics operation. For 20 years, he has had a career of federal service that has comprised significant world events during and after 9/11. As a manager, Appelt has led teams in support of worldwide missions to meet short and long-term intelligence requirements.
Quote
“The main reason I had such success was that I was part of some incredibly good teams and fellow ballplayers. There is no way I'd be considered for the Hall of Fame without such a great cast of teammates. It was an honor being a Rattler. Some of my fondest memories and lifelong friendships come from wearing the Gold and Blue.”
