Bio
Jamie Amoretti’s name is the only one to hang individually in the rafters among the national championship banners inside Bill Greehey Arena. Amoretti had a season for the record books in his junior campaign, winning the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship in 2006 to establish himself as the school’s lone individual national champion. Amoretti won three tournament titles that year, posted a then-school-record scoring average of 71.85, was named both an All-American and Scholar All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America, and was honored as the GCAA Arnold Palmer Award Winner as the nation’s top golfer. He and his teammates finished the season ranked 11th nationally, then the second-highest ever ranking by a Rattlers squad. Throughout his career, Amoretti tallied a 73.38 scoring average, which still ranks sixth all-time at St. Mary’s. He was named to the Heartland Conference 20th Anniversary Team and will always be the league’s sole NCAA individual champion.

Currently
Amoretti is a partner at an independent insurance agency Catto & Catto LLC. He specializes in commercial insurance sales for large companies.
Quote
“St. Mary’s was such a great place to learn as well as grow. Being able to play a sport I loved while going to college was always a goal for me, and St. Mary’s gave me that opportunity. I didn’t realize until after graduating how powerful a degree from St. Mary’s could be. Part of my job is networking, and it is amazing how many great people in our community graduated from St. Mary’s and are in successful position across San Antonio. It is a proud feeling knowing you share a degree from the same University as these folks.”
