St. Mary's Athletics Hall of Fame
Danny Galindo was a stellar second baseman for the Rattlers throughout his four year career. As a junior he was named All-Conference and helped lead the Rattlers to its first-ever win over the University of Texas.
He graduated with a B.A. from St. Mary's in 1969 and was drafted into the Army. He chose the Air Force instead, and attended Officer Training School in 1970. He graduated OTS as a 2nd Lieutenant and was eventually assigned to F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo., then traveled to California, Arizona and Germany before being assigned to Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. He worked wi th the Minuteman and Ground-Launched Cruise Missile Systems as a launch operations crewmember and an operations and training officer. At Bergstrom, his last assignment was liaison officer for the Numbered Air Commander for 12th Air Force. He retired as a major in 1990 with 20 total years of service.
He began playing baseball again after retiring from the Air Force, has played in the Austin Men's Senior Baseball League for several years. He participated in the 1999 Men's 50-and-over American Division Championship in Phoenix, and the 1998 Fall Classic Championship in Puerto Rico. Last September he took part in the San Antonio Texas Cup Tournament at St. Mary's. He also frequently plays golf.
