BIO:
Eric, a San Antonio native, reached the pinnacle as a senior in 1998, earning an NAIA All-America First Team selection to become the program’s eleventh and final NAIA All-American First-Team honoree. That same year, he was named the Heart of Texas Conference Player of the Year following his third All-Heart of Texas Conference selection. But Battersby’s accolades started early. As a freshman in 1995, Eric earned the Heart of Texas Conference Freshman of the Year honor, which is the honor he most cherishes. Having already pocketed the Freshman of the Year award, Eric advanced to his first NAIA World Series appearance that year and followed up with another trip as a sophomore. Battersby experienced plenty of wins in his four-year career however, as he was a main component in leading the Rattlers to three of the program’s eight seasons with more than 40 victories. Eric’s immaculate play for the Rattlers enabled him to enjoy an extended professional career as he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox following his senior season. Eric played professional ball for seven years and credits his experience as a Rattler in giving him the edge over the competition.

POST-GRADUATION:
After his seven-year career as a professional baseball player, where he played four years in AA and one in AAA, hitting .264 with 51 home runs and 269 RBI, Eric took residence in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he serves as the manager of the bulk terminal for the port of Corpus Christi. He and his wife, Michelle, have two children, Tyler and Emily. Tyler followed in his father's footsteps and is a baseball player at St. Mary's.
