Rodney Williams made his mark at St. Mary’s on the baseball diamond, helping lead the Rattlers to three NAIA World Series appearances in his four years with the team.  Playing in more games than almost anyone else who has donned a Rattlers’ baseball jersey, Williams suited up 221 times for St. Mary’s, which is tied for the second most in school history.

He hit .350 for his career, recording 153 RBIs, 13 home runs, 43 doubles and 201 runs scored. He also stole 60 bases, the third-most in school history while helping the Rattlers win a pair of Heart of Texas Conference championships.

Williams was well-recognized in the sport of baseball, earning All-Heart of Texas Conference each year he played. He was named the Heart of Texas Conference Freshman of the Year and earned an NAIA All-District IV selection as a sophomore. As a junior, he was named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.

He went on to play independent ball for two years, spending one season in the Frontier League with the Canton Crocodiles where he was a league All-Star and won the league Championship. He later played in the Northern League with the Madison Black Wolf.

Williams has remained involved with St. Mary’s over the years, having long been a member of the Baseball Exes.
