Howarth soars to 3rd-place finish at Housewright Invitational

GRANBURY, Texas — St. Mary's Allison Howarth roared to a tie for third place after shooting a 1-under-par 71 in Tuesday's final round of the Doc Housewright Invitational.

Howarth (RS-So., San Antonio) finished three strokes off the lead for her sixth top-five finish of the year.

The tournament title went to Casey Wild of the tournament's host, Tarleton State, after shooting a 2-over 146. St. Edward's took the team title, posting the best total of the 10 teams at a 3-over 599. The Rattlers finished ninth at 633.

Every Rattler golfer equaled or improved their Day 1 score on Tuesday, led by Haley Keller, whose final-round 77 shot her into a tie for 28th place. Daryn Petermann shot 81 after carding a first-round 82 to finish 39th, while Bailey Furgeson was one stroke behind at a two-round total of 164 for a tie for 40th place.

Paola Diaz-Portela shot back-to-back 86's to finish 48th.

St. Mary's will turn its focus to the Heartland Conference Tournament, which begins next week at the Slick Rock Golf Club in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
