No. 3 Women's Golf Ties School Single-Round Record

10/31/2026 6:51:00 PM

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. – There was a ton of red on the scorecard on Saturday afternoon for the No. 3 St. Mary's University Women's Golf team in the second round of the Las Vegas Desert Classic as the team tied the school record for lowest round with a 276.

The Rattlers are tied for the team lead with 18 holes to play on Sunday, knotting No. 1-ranked DBU at 17-under-par (559). The 276 by the Gold and Blue ties the 2022 team from the first round of the Lone Star Conference Championship. The Patriots and Rattlers hold a 16 stroke lead over Cal State LA in third place.

Three of the five StMU golfers shot rounds in the 60s, and are in the top five in the individual standings after 36 holes, and all five are currently in the top 32 on the leaderboard.

Senior Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) started strong and remained hot throughout the round, birdieing three of her first five holes after starting the day on the third. She then posted three more birdies on the back nine before finishing with birdies on holes one and two for a round of 65 (-7) to move into a tie for the tournament lead. Her 65 ties for the second-lowest round in school history and is one off her school record of 64 from last season at the Lone Star Conference Championship.

Wilczek is locked in a four-way tie for first place with Gracie Grant from DBU, Jaylee Castro from Arkansas Tech and Hillary Currier from Missouri-St. Louis. The quartet hold a two-shot lead over a group of five who are knotted for fifth-place at five-under, including a pair of Rattlers.

For the second-straight day, juniors Brielle Burns (Houston) and Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) posted identical scores in a round, as they both fired 69s and are tied for fifth. Burns started on hole one with a bogey and then tore up the remainder of the course, birdieing holes six, 12, 15 and 17. Lefebvre notched seven birdies, including three in a four hole stretch from 13 through 16.

Sophomore Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) started on hole four, and caught fire on hole seven, posting three straight birdies. She ended the day with a one-over par 73 and is tied for 32nd place with a two-day total of 147 (74-73).

Junior Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) is currently tied for 22nd place after posting a round of 74 on Tuesday. She is one-over for the tournament at 145 strokes (71-74).

On Sunday for the final round, the Rattlers will once again be in foursomes with DBU and Missouri-St. Louis, while Cal State LA joins the teams. The Rattlers will begin on holes 1 through 4 in a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
