BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 3 St. Mary's University Women's Golf team leads the field at the Las Vegas Desert Classic after the first round on Friday at the Boulder Creek Golf Course.
 
The Rattlers hold a one-stroke lead over top-ranked DBU after combining to shoot a 283 in the first 18 holes.
 
Juniors Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) and Brielle Burns (Houston) are tied for the team lead and for fourth overall after posting identical rounds of 70. Lefebvre posted two birdies and 16 pars in her first round, while Burns had six birdies and three holes over par.
 
Fellow junior Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) is one shot behind the pair after carding a one-under 71 on the day. Perkins nailed three birdies in her first seven holes to shoot a 34 on the back-nine, after starting on the 11th hole.
 
Senior Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) shot an even 72, which included an eagle on the fifth hole, and she is tied for 21st place. Sophomore Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) shot a 74 in her opening round, and is tied for 34th place.
 
Hillary Currier from Missouri-St. Louis sits atop the individual leaderboard after turning in a round of 68, holding a one-shot lead over the field.
 
The Rattlers will be in the first group tomorrow, and will be teamed with golfers from DBU, Missouri-St. Louis and Cal State San Marcos. The shotgun start will begin at 10 a.m. (CT) with the Rattlers beginning on holes 1 through 4
