SAN ANTONIO — Five St. Mary's University golfers were named to the At-Large Academic All-District team by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Savannah Dupre,
Libby Kilbride and
Orla O'Leary were honored from the women's team, while
Kongpop Kaikaew and
Baptiste Touchard were named from the men's team.
The honor evaluates a player's contributions on and off the field. To qualify, a player must have played at least one year at their current institution, maintain a 3.50 GPA, and be a starter or key reserve player.
The at-large teams are made up of student-athletes from women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling at the NCAA level.
Dupre, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, won the Lone Star Conference Championship individual title and earned First-Team All-American honors by the WGCA. She is majoring in marketing. Dupre broke the school's single-season record for stroke average at 73.03 and finished the season ranked 11th in the nation.
Kilbride, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications with a perfect 4.00 GPA, was an honorable mention All-American. The Sheffield, England, native placed in the top 25 in 10 of the team's 11 tournaments and finished with a 74.00-stroke average, the fourth lowest in school history.
O'Leary recently earned her bachelor's degree in international business. The native of Galashiels, Scotland, tied the St. Mary's career record for rounds played with 37 and her career stroke average of 76.11 ranks seventh all-time. She won the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational as a senior, becoming the 14th player to win a tournament in StMU history.
Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) broke the StMU single-round record after shooting a 62 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite en route to breaking the 54-hole tournament record at 198. He is majoring in management and has one season left with the Rattlers.
Touchard, also a junior, is pursuing a degree in finance & risk management. He now ranks second on the single-round record list after firing a 63 at the NCAA West/South Central Regional, and his season stroke average of 71.76 is the fifth-best in StMU history. The native of Saint-Agathon, France won two tournaments and is one of 12 to win two or more in their careers.
