Reed Named LSC Women's Golf Academic Athlete of the Year for Second-Straight Season

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – St. Mary's University graduate student Rebecca Reed was named Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Academic Player of the Year and leads the five-player 2024 Women's Golf All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Sunday (April 14).

Studying at the St. Mary's School of Law, Reed earned her second consecutive Women's Golf Academic Player of the Year award (2023, '24) and a third selection to the All-Academic Team. Named the LSC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023, Reed is a three-time WGCA Scholar All-American and recipient of the St. Mary's University 2023 Presidential Award. On the golf course, Reed claimed Second Team All-LSC honors a year ago, ranks third in Rattlers' history in par or better rounds, and has recorded top 25 finishes in eight of nine tournaments in 2023-24.

Reed is joined on the 2024 LSC Women's Golf All-Academic team by DBU senior Julia Garcia who earned her third All-Academic citation; West Texas A&M junior Antonella Periotti Omisolo who is a two-time All-Academic honoree; Kyra Schmuhl, a junior from Lubbock Christian; and St. Mary's junior Libby Kilbride.

Kilbride, hailing from Sheffield, England, is a communications major, who alongside Reed, helped the Rattlers win the WGCA Academic National Championship a year ago.

The LSC Golf All-Academic team is selected by the conference sports information directors and recognizes individuals for high-level athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions; reached sophomore athletic and academic standing; completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution; and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average over their collegiate career.
