Women's Golf Ties for Second as Reed Ties School Record

DESTIN, Fla. — The second-lowest total of the final day helped the St. Mary's University Women's Golf team climb into a tie for second place at the Emerald Coast Collegiate.

On Tuesday, the 10th-ranked Rattlers shot a 287 to move into a tie with #7 Central Missouri and finish 30 strokes off the lead of #6 Flagler, which won with an 852 (290-284-278).

Senior Rebecca Reed (Midland, Texas) posted a one-under-par 70 in the last round, finishing third overall with a 210 (69-71-70). The 210 ties the St. Mary's 54-hole tournament record, matching her own tournament from the DBU Women's Classic in September 2022 and graduate assistant coach Sofia Ruescas' total at the NCAA West Regional in May 2021. Reed led the tournament in par-4 scoring, shooting three-under-par and recording a tournament-best 45 pars.

Junior Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) became the third Rattler to shoot a season-low round during the tournament, carding a career-low 69 in the final round, jumping from 42nd to 24th place and finishing in the top 25 for the second straight tournament. O'Leary collected eight birdies over the three-day tournament, tied for the sixth most of the 95 golfers. She totaled 226 (80-77-69) strokes.

Junior Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) needed 74 strokes over her final 18 holes, tying for 16th place (78-71-74=223). She's placed in the top 25 five times in eight tournaments this season. She was four-over-par on the par-4 holes, finishing sixth among the field. She was also sixth in recording 38 pars throughout the 54 holes.

Madalyn Trevino, a junior from San Antonio, finished tied for 37th place with her three-round total of 230 (76-74-80). Senior Estelle Beck (Lakeway, Texas) bounced back on Tuesday for her lowest score of the tournament, a 74, to tie for 62nd place at 237 (79-84-74).

The Rattlers have one more regular season tournament on the schedule as they'll compete in the Desert Classic, hosted by West Texas A&M, at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Ariz., on April 1-2. The team then turns its attention to post-season tournaments, beginning with the Lone Star Conference Championship April 15-17 in Thackerville, Okla.
