LAREDO, Texas — The St. Mary's University Women's Golf team picked up right where it left off at the end of the fall season, finishing among the leaders in a tournament, as the Rattlers placed second at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational.

The Rattlers finished 17 strokes off the lead by West Texas A&M (595), shooting 612 (312-300=612).Â

Junior
Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) finished six over par to tie for second place with a 150. She shaved four strokes off her first round, coming in on day two with a 73. Kilbride recorded five birdies in the 36 holes and collected another 21 pars.

Senior
Rebecca Reed (Midland, Texas) and junior
Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) finished three shots behind Kilbride, tying for fifth place with totals of 153. Reed struggled in the first round, carding an 81, but bounced back to shoot par on day two. O'Leary turned in rounds of 76 and 77, respectively.

Savannah Dupre (Boerne, Texas) tied for 13th place after carding identical rounds of 78 for a 156 and junior
Madalyn Trevino (San Antonio) finished in a three-way tie for 31st place after shooting a 164. She shot an 83 on Monday and took two strokes off on Tuesday.Â

Dupre tied for the second-most number of pars in the women's field, recording 24, while O'Leary was one behind her with 23.Â

The Rattlers will take next week off from competition, returning to the links on Feb. 19-20 at the Southern Invite, hosted by Central Oklahoma at the Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, Texas.
