DALLAS — After two seasons of close calls and numerous second-place finishes, St. Mary's University Women's Golfer
Taylor Wilczek finally broke through to win a tournament, bringing home individual medalist honors from the DBU Classic in a stacked field.
Wilczek, a senior from Anthem, Ariz., began the final round tied for the lead after carding a 66 in round two. She held off a talented group of golfers, including DBU's Gracie Grant and Barry's Tereza Zavrelova, to win by three strokes after carding a one-under 71 in the final round. Wilczek, the 2026 NCAA Runner-Up, finished the second tournament of the season with 211 strokes (74-66-71/-5) for her first collegiate victory at St. Mary's.
Wilczek started the day on hole five, as she had in the previous two rounds, and made the turn at 18 at +1, but fired birdies on the second and third holes to enter the clubhouse with a 71 and the title in hand. She has three second-place finishes and three other tournaments in the top five in her 23 tournaments with the Rattlers.
The Rattlers, ranked 11th in the first poll of the season by WGCA, placed third as a team, finishing behind No. 3 Anderson (+16) and No. 4 Barry (+21). StMU defeated No. 1 DBU by two strokes, shooting a three-round total of 887 (303-285-299). No. 15 UT Tyler rounded out the top five, as they climbed one spot on the leaderboard during the final round (+38).
Junior
Brielle Burns (Houston) made the biggest jump on the leaderboard, climbing 10 spots on the final day to finish tied for 14th place at 7-over-par. She fired a one-under 71 on Tuesday for 222 total strokes (77-75-71=222/+7).
Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) dropped into a tie for 20th place after turning in a round of 82 on Tuesday. The sophomore shot a season-low round of 70 in the second round to help her finish in the top 25 for the sixth time in her career (74-70-82=226/+11).
Junior
Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) carded an 80 in the final 18 holes to finish tied for 34th place with a 233 (78-75-80/+18), and fellow junior
Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) was one stroke behind her with a 234 (83-74-77/+19) for the tournament.
The Rattlers remain in Texas for their third fall tournament, competing in the Midwestern State Invitational on Oct. 19-20 at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
