WICHITA FALLS, Texas — The #6 St. Mary's University Women's Golf team concluded the fall season with a tie for second place at the Midwestern State Fall Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
Odessa Junior College won the event by one stroke, shooting an 899, while both the Rattlers and West Texas A&M totaled 900. Host Midwestern State placed fourth with 915 strokes and Southwestern Oklahoma State rounded out the top five with 921 strokes.
The Rattlers led the field in par-3 scoring, averaging 3.17 strokes per hole, and tied for the tournament lead in par-5 scoring with the Mustangs at -2 (4.97). The Gold and Blue also collected 167 pars, leading the field by almost 20.
Sophomore
Savannah Dupre (Boerne, Texas) and junior
Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) tied for fifth place with identical scores of 223. Dupre (73-73-77) dropped one spot on the final day, while O'Leary climbed seven spots with her final round of 73 (76-74-73). Dupre finished third in the tournament on par-5 scoring, shooting -4 (4.67). She also tied for sixth in par-4 scoring at 4.27, while O'Leary tied for fifth in par-3 scoring, averaging 3.08 per hole and made a tournament-best 38 pars.
Senior
Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) ended in a tie for 11th place with her three-round total of 228 (75-73-80), while both
Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) and
Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) tied for 15th with scores of 230. Wilczek carded a 75 (80-75-75) to match her second-round score, while Lefebvre shot a 76 (76-78-76) on Tuesday.
Senior
Madalyn Trevino (San Antonio) finished in a four-way tie for 28th place. She shot a pair of 76s on Monday and finished with an 81 on Tuesday in the final fall tournament of her collegiate career.
The tournament concludes the fall portion of the Rattlers' schedule. The team will return to the links in February.
