Women's Golf Places Fourth in Loaded Field at UIndy Invitational

CARMEL, Ind. – The St. Mary's University Women's Golf team put the world of golf on notice with its fourth-place finish at the UIndy Invitational on Tuesday.
 
The Rattlers, receiving votes in the WGCA poll, finished the three-round tournament with an 899 (299-296-304) to defeat four teams ranked in the top-25 and three others that are receiving votes in the poll. No. 5 Findlay won the tournament after firing an 886, while No. 2 Lynn was second and #25 Central Missouri placed third.
 
Junior Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) remained strong, finishing in a four-way tie for third place. She shot a 74 in the final round after carding rounds of 72 and 73 on Monday for a 219. The 219 ties her lowest 54-hole round at St. Mary's, knotting her total from the NCAA West Regional last May. Kilbride collected 38 pars and seven birdies over the 54 holes and her 38 pars was the fourth-most in the field.
 
Senior Rebecca Reed (Midland, Texas) tied for 15th place in the tough field, putting together a three-round total of 226 (72-75-79). Reed was one of only four golfers to record an eagle in the tournament, doing so on the par-5 third hole during the first round. She also posted 32 pars and six birdies over the two days.
 
Freshman Savannah Dupre (Boerne, Texas) climbed five places on Tuesday to finish the tournament tied for 20th place. Dupre shot a 75 for a 54-hole total of 227 (79-73-75). Dupre tallied 28 pars and nine birdies, with her birdies tying for the sixth-most in the tournament.
 
Sophomore Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) also rose five places in the standings on the final day, finishing in a tie for 42nd place with a total of 235 (76-82-77). O'Leary totaled 30 pars and four birdies for the second-lowest 54-hole total of her Rattlers career.
 
Senior Estelle Beck (Lakeway, Texas) continued to climb the leaderboard, jumping another nine places into a tie for 45th on the final day. Beck finished with a three-round total of 237 (84-75-78) and was second on the team with 33 pars.
 
The Rattlers travel to the annual DBU Fall Invitational next week, golfing at the familiar Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch beginning on Monday, Sept. 18. This will be the fifth-straight season StMU has competed in at least one tournament on the course in Denton, Texas.
