Cresto and Reed Earn Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas – Annually, the Lone Star Conference awards one female and one male from each institution with the Scholar-Athlete Award and this season, Deni Cresto from Men's Soccer and Rebecca Reed from Women's Golf have earned the nod for St. Mary's University.
 
These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.
 
Cresto, who Monday also earned All-Academic honors from the Lone Star for his work in the sports performance center, led the team in scoring in 2022. He was honored on the All-South Central Region First-Team by both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches Association after earning First-Team All-Conference honors by the Lone Star Conference coaches. He is a six-time Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and this is his second-straight pick as the school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
Reed earned her third WGCA Scholar All-American a week ago and is a two-time selection to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team, including being named the Academic Athlete of the Year for Women's Golf this season. She is also a six-time honoree on the Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll, a two-time All-Conference selection by the league's coaches and a St. Mary's University Presidential Award winner in 2023. Reed will return for her fifth season in 2023-24.
