Women's Golf Finishes Third in Laredo

LAREDO, Texas – The St. Mary's Women's Golf team bettered their first round by one stroke to finish third at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Rattlers turned in a 315 on day two after posting a 316 in the opening round of the spring season. Three student-athletes finished in the top 15, led by senior Rebecca Reed (Midland, Texas).
 
Reed tied for fourth individually with a 152 after shooting a 78. Sophomore Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) made the most movement, shaving five strokes off her first round for a 76 on Tuesday and a tournament total of 157 to tie for 11th. She tied teammate Estelle Beck (Lakeway, Texas), who also shot a 157 and was consistent with rounds of 78 and 79.
 
In her first tournament in the Gold & Blue, sophomore Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) tied for 32nd with a two-day total of 166 (84, 82) and sophomore Madalynn Trevino (San Antonio) rounded out the team tied for 43rd at 171. Individually, junior Maria Ferrer (Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico) dropped five shots off her first-round total to card a 177 and tied for 52nd.
 
The Rattlers head to Spring, Texas and the Cypresswood Golf Club on Feb. 20 for the newly created Southern Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma.
