Rebecca Reed Ties 54-Hole School Record as Women's Golf Places Ninth

DENTON, Texas – St. Mary's senior Rebecca Reed has shot par or better in five of the six rounds in competition so far this season and Tuesday's 71 ended her in a tie for fourth place at the DBU Women's Classic at Robson Ranch.

Reed, a Midland, Texas native, shot a three-round total of 210 (71-68-71) to tie UIndy's Elyse Stasil six strokes off the lead and finish atop the Lone Star Conference Player's leaderboard. Maria Hoyos from Lynn was the individual medalist at 204. Reed's total of 210 ties the St. Mary's 54-hole tournament record from Sofia Ruescas at the 2021 NCAA West Regional. It also shaves three strokes off Reed's previous low of 213 from the King Alfred Invitational a season ago.

The Rattlers placed ninth overall and second amongst Lone Star teams, trailing only top-ranked DBU. StMU tallied an 879 for the three rounds (296-291-292).

Fellow senior Estelle Beck (Lakeway, Texas) finished strong with a two-under par back nine on Tuesday, tying for 18th place with her three-round total of 217 (73-71-73). Senior Jordyn Wray (San Antonio) recorded the team's lone eagle of the tournament, doing so on the par-5 12th hole en route to a 71 in the final round. She tied for 36th place with a 222 (75-76-71).

Sophomore Lilly Kilbride (Sheffield, England) and sophomore Madalyn Trevino (San Antonio) were separated by only one stroke, carding a 232 and 233, respectively to place 73rd and 74th.

Fifteen of the 16 teams in the field are nationally ranked, including seven teams ranked in the top 15. No. 13 Henderson State won the team title with a six-under par total of 858, while #2 Lynn was second and #1 DBU finished third.

The Rattlers return to competition in two weeks at the NCAA Regional Preview, hosted by DBU at the Golf Club of Dallas, Oct. 3-4.
