Reed and Ruescas Earn First-Team All-Conference Honors

GLEN ROSE, Texas – The Women's Golf coaches of the Lone Star Conference rewarded a pair of St. Mary's golfers on Wednesday for their season accomplishments as both Rebecca Reed and Sofia Ruescas were named to the All-Conference First Team.
 
Reed, a junior from Midland, Texas was also named to the league's All-Academic team. A marketing major, Reed is averaging 74.91 strokes per round and has finished in the top five in nine of the tournaments in which she's competed. She leads the team with six par or better rounds and has been the team's top finisher in the last two tournaments.
 
Ruescas, a senior from San Sebastián de los Reyes, Spain is the team's highest ranked golfer, entering the Lone Star Championships ranked 22nd. She is a two-time Lone Star All-Conference First Team selection and is averaging 74.32 strokes per round in 2022. Ruescas has placed in the top 25 in eight of the team's nine tournaments and has six top-10 finishes. 
 
DBU, the top-ranked team in the nation, had five players named to the All-Conference First-Team and redshirt freshman Jordan Karrh was named both the Newcomer and Golfer of the Year. 
 
The Lone Star Conference Championship begins on Thursday morning with the golfers playing 36 holes on Thursday and 18 on Friday to determine the four teams who will move on to the medal match play on Friday afternoon.
