FORT SMITH, Arkansas – Entering the final round with a two-stroke lead at the Hardscrabble Invitational, the St. Mary's Women's Golf team held on to win their second team title of the season. The Rattlers held off Henderson State as both teams shot 309 in the third round. St. Mary's finished with a 904 (291-304-309) to claim the top spot.
Individually,
Monica Dibildox was the top finisher for the Rattlers as the graduate student picked up her second win of the season. Dibildox finished with a three-round total of 220 (70-72-78) and shared top medalist honors with Hannah Choi of Henderson State who fired a final round 71 to earn a share of the title.
Sofia Ruescas and
Rebecca Reed finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Ruescas shot 225 (73-74-78) for the tournament while Reed finished with a 227 (71-80-76). Ruescas led the entire field with 32 pars while Reed was just behind her with 29.
On the No. 3 bag,
Estelle Beck finished in a tie for 11th with a 235 (77-81-77) including her first-ever ace on No. 15 in the opening round.
Playing as an individual,
Maria Ferrer shots two rounds of shot two rounds of 79 to go with a second round 81 to finish in a tie for 17th along with her teammate,
Jordyn Wray. Wray carded rounds of 78, 78, 83 in the tournament.
Next up for the Rattlers will be the Lone Star Conference Championships from April 11-14 at the Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas.
