LAREDO, Texas — St. Mary's Women's Golf finished in the Top 5 as a team in its first tournament of the spring season, ahead of fellow Lone Star Conference schools UT-Tyler, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Lubbock Christian and UT-Permian Basin at the Jack Brown Memorial Invite.Â
Junior
Sofia Ruescas led the way in the final round with a 75 (+3) to finish in 11th place, followed closely by sophomore
Megan Sells in 12th place with a 76 (+4). Freshmen
Jordyn Wray and
Estelle Beck finished in 26th and 27th place, respectively, with Wray firing a 79 (+7) and Beck an 81 (+9) in the final round.Â
St. Mary's improved their total team score from a 313 (+25) in the second round to a 311 (+23) in the third and final round. As a team, the Rattlers finished with a total score of 925 (+61) for the tournament to trail fellow LSC opponents Dallas Baptist in first, Texas A&M-Commerce in second, Midwestern State in third, and Texas A&M-International in fourth.Â
The Rattlers travel to Austin for their next tournament on Feb. 24-25 at the St. Edward's Crosswind Golf Gloves Spring Invitational.Â
