Rattlers finish 2nd at St. Edward's Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas — Maria Regina Gonzalez helped lead St. Mary's Women's Golf to second place at the St. Edward's Invitational.

Gonzalez shot an even-par 72 in Tuesday's second and final round, placing second individually after finishing three strokes behind the tournament champion.

The Rattlers shot 608 as a team, two strokes behind tournament champ Tarleton State at the Onion Creek Club.

Three other Rattlers joined Gonzalez in the top 20, led by Kelly Contreras' 12^th-place finish. She shot 153 for the tournament following Tuesday's 79. Haleigh Jordan and Sofia Ruescas tied for 16^th (155), while Paige Weiss shot 162.

The tournament marked the Rattlers' third consecutive top-two finish. St. Mary's will be back in action next week for the Islander Classic, which will begin Monday in Corpus Christi, Texas.
