Women's Golf places 2nd at Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's wrapped up play at the Rattler Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in second place.

A cold, damp day at The Dominion Country Club didn't stop the Rattlers from improving on their Day 1 team score by four strokes.

Following a rough opening round, Maria Regina Gonzalez bounced back with a final round, 2-under par 70, catapulting her to a second-place finish on the individual leaderboard.

Kelly Contreras finished 5-over par for the tournament following a final round 78 to finish tied for fourth individually while Sofia Ruescas and Haleigh Jordan tied for 21st, going 14-over par for the tournament.

Paige Weiss rounded out the Rattler starters, improving on her Day 1 performance by 10 strokes.

Next for the Rattlers will be the St. Edward's Invitational, beginning on Feb. 19.
