COMPLETE LEADERBOARD

ORLANDO, Florida – A strong final round saw St. Mary's Women's Golf climb into a tie for fifth place at the Rollins Legends Invitational on Tuesday.

Sofia Ruescas turned in the best round on the day for the Rattlers, carding a 1-over 73 to tie for 15th place individually with a three-round total of 227.

Maria Regina Gonzalez shot 75, finishing seventh overall (219) to cap off her strong fall season. DBU won the team title (877), 40 strokes better than the Rattlers' three-round total of 917. DBU's Ann Parmerter also won the individual title with a 3-under 213.

"It was another solid performance capping off a strong fall season for both programs," head coach Thomas Kearney said. "We certainly didn't have our best performance yesterday, but we spoke last night about climbing the board today and finishing fourth.

"We felt that would be a successful week given we had No. 2 (DBU) and No. 3 (Nova Southeastern) in the nation, as well as the host, Rollins, ahead of us. We weren't quite able to get fourth place but all in all, it was a solid performance."

Ranked 11th nationally, the Rattlers defeated six ranked teams in the tournament, including three top-25 programs (No. 9 Florida Southern, No. 22 Tarleton State and No. 23 St. Edward's). Thirteen teams in all competed in the field, including six top-20 programs.

For St. Mary's, Paige Weiss rounded out a solid showing with Tuesday's 76, her lowest round of the tournament. Weiss finished in a tie for 41st place (234). Haleigh Jordan tied for 50th overall, shooting her third consecutive 79. Megan Sells shot 81 in the third and final round, her best performance of the tournament, to place 68th.

The tournament wraps up the fall schedule for St. Mary's, which earned four top-five finishes over five events.
