Gonzalez captures individual title at DBU Classic

DALLAS — Rain and lightning canceled the final round of the DBU Patriot Classic on Tuesday with St. Mary's Maria Regina Gonzalez claiming the individual title.

The Rattlers finished third on the team leaderboard after carding a 579 for the two rounds.

Gonzalez led the way for the Rattlers with a wire-to-wire victory. Opening with a four-stroke lead after a first round, seven-under par, she would hold on to the lead by one stroke after firing a one-over par 73.

Sofia Ruescas finished the tournament tied for fourth with a three-under par showing while Paige Weiss finished tied for 17th with a seven-over 150 for the week.

Haleigh Jordan and Megan Sells finished six strokes back of Weiss to finish tied for 31st.

Next week, the Rattlers will compete at the DII National Preview beginning on Monday, Oct. 15.
