Final day surge propels Gonzalez, Rattlers

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida — A final round 71 from Maria Regina Gonzalez led St. Mary's to a third-place finish at the NCAA DII National Preview.

Gonzalez posted her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, posting three birdies on the front nine, ending the week at five-over par for second on the individual leaderboard. This comes after capturing the individual title at the DBU Patriot Classic one week ago.

A solid weekend from Sofia Ruescas saw the sophomore card two rounds of 76 while Paige Weiss secured a top-20 finish with a 160 for the tournament.

Haleigh Jordan ended the week two strokes back of Weiss with a 162 as Megan Sells rounded the team scores with a 166.

As a team, the Rattlers finished with a 622, six strokes behind second place Grand Valley State.

The Rattlers will finish the fall season next month at the Rollins Legends Invitational on Nov. 5.
