Rattlers net 7th straight top-5 with 2nd place finish at MSU Invitational

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Entering the day tied for first at the Midwestern State Invitational, the St. Mary's Rattlers finished the tournament in second place, 10 strokes behind the eventual winner Dallas Baptist on Tuesday afternoon at the Wichita Falls Country Club.

Leading the charge for the Rattlers was Maria Regina Gonzalez who matched her first round score with a final round 76, placing her tied for third.

Three strokes behind her was Paige Weiss who carded a final round 79, finishing tied for eighth. Kelly Contreras finished strong, carding a 5-over par 77, propelling her to an 11th place finish while Mackenzie Thayer collected a top-25 finish after firing a 161 for the tournament.

Rounding out the Ratter five was Allison Howarth who improved on her Day 1 score by three strokes to finish with a 165.

St. Mary's will have some time before its next tournament on April 2 at the West Texas A&M Desert Invite.
