Rattlers settle for 4th place finish at Pioneer Shootout

VALLEJO, California — On a cloudy day at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course with temperatures in the mid 50s, the St. Mary's Rattlers finished the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in fourth place out of 13 teams.
 
Led by freshman Paige Weiss, the Rattlers secured their fifth top-4 finish in six events dating back to September. Weiss ended her tournament with a final round 4-over par 76 placing her tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard. For Weiss, it marked her second top-10 finish of the year.
 
Kelly Contreras and Allison Howarth each shot an 8-over par 152 for the tournament as the duo finished tied for 13th overall. Contreras fired St. Mary's best score of the second round with a 3-over par 75.
 
Weiss' fellow freshman, Maria Regina Gonzalez, carded a second round 6-over par 78 as she finished tied for 29th.
 
Next week, the Rattlers will set their sights on Wichita Falls, Texas where they will play in the Midwestern State Invitational beginning on March 14.
