Rattlers finish strong, edged out by one stroke at MSU Invitational

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — On the final day of the Midwestern State Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club, the St. Mary's Rattlers finished fourth out of 18 teams in the tournament one-stroke behind the three teams tied for first.
 
Entering the final day tied for fifth, the Rattlers duplicated their first round performance by carding a second round best 308, bringing their total to a 616 for the tournament.
 
Allison Howarth led the Rattlers with a second round 2-over par 74 as she moved up 10 spots, finishing 2nd on the individual leaderboard for the tournament as Paige Weiss impressed with a second round 4-over par 76, placing her tied for 11th.
 
Two strokes behind Weiss was Kelly Contreras who ended with a 156 for the tournament following her second round 81 while Maria Regina Gonzalez finished strong, firing a final round 77.
 
The Rattlers look forward to the Mustang Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona beginning on April 1.
