Howarth earns top-5 finish as Rattlers place 4th at Heartland

HORSESHOE BAY, Texas — St. Mary's Allison Howarth shot her way into a tie for fifth place in Tuesday's final round of the Heartland Conference Women's Golf Tournament.
 
Howarth shot a 1-over-par 73 over the final 18 at the Slick Rock Golf Course, equaling her first-round total for a two-round score of 146. The performance earned Howarth, a sophomore from San Antonio, a spot on the Heartland Conference All-Tournament Team.
 
Howarth also was named to the All-Heartland Conference First Team, the league announced Tuesday.
 
As a team, St. Mary's maintained its spot in the standings to finish fourth of seven teams. The Rattlers' total of 306 on Tuesday was only one shot off the 305 they collectively shot Monday.
 
Freshman Kelly Contreras (San Antonio) narrowly missed out on a top-10 finish, placing 12th after shooting a solid 75 in the final round for a two-day 151. Haley Keller and Bailey Furgeson tied for 26th with matching 157 scores, while Daryn Petermann shot 87 in the final round for a two-round total of 166 to finish 37th.
 
For Howarth, the tournament marked her seventh top-five finish of the season.
