SAN ANTONIO — It was a muggy Saturday morning at Dickson Stadium as the Rattlers honored five seniors for St. Mary's annual Senior Day ceremony.

The Rattlers dropped the contest with a final score of 7-5, moving their record to 31-16 (17-10 in Heartland Conference play).

Adrian Garcia (El Paso, Texas), Evan Cokinos (Houston), Nathan Humpal (Corpus Christi, Texas), Rick Villa (San Antonio), and Rene Solis (San Antonio) were recognized for their accomplishments during their time at St. Mary's University.

Once the ceremony was over, the seniors went back to work in hopes of winning the series against Oklahoma Christian University Eagles after splitting the series-opening doubleheader Friday.

Matt McClain (Jr., San Antonio) took the mound for the Rattlers in Game 3. McClain surrendered a run in the first, but the Rattlers' offense quickly got the run back after

Brooks Orton (Jr., Cedar City, Utah) led the inning off with a single to centerfield and was quickly brought in off of a triple by Drake Roberts (Jr., Brenham, Texas). Roberts crossed the plate a batter later on a wild pitch.

The Rattlers held the 2-1 lead until the fourth inning when they gave up three runs. The Eagles would tack on another three runs over the course of the fifth and sixth innings, while the Rattlers would only be able to get three of the runs back.

No. 15 St. Mary's had nine hits on the day and were lead by an explosive 4 for 5 performance by Orton.

Orton also picked up his 29th stolen base on the season against the Eagles Saturday, making him one shy of tying the program's single-season stolen bases record.

Roberts followed up with two hits of his own and Humpal, Keith Funk (RS-So., San Antonio), and Mario Maldonado (Jr., Laredo, Texas) each had one apiece.

St. Mary's will conclude regular-season play next weekend as it hosts the Texas A&M University-International Dustdevils at Dickson Stadium.
