GREENSBORO, N.C. — St. Mary's University junior catcher
Dillon Lopez was named to the 2026 ABCA NCAA Division II Region All-Defensive team, in a vote by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Lopez, from San Antonio, caught 24 runners attempting to steal this season and helped turn three double plays, leading the Lone Star Conference in runners thrown out. He becomes the third Rattler to earn South Central All-Defensive honors, joining Tyler Migl in 2012 and Ryan McGowen in 2023. He had a .990 fielding percentage, leading the team with 383 chances on the season. Lopez made 339 putouts and had 40 assists in playing 56 of the team's 58 games.
Lopez also earned CSC Academic All-District and Lone Star Conference All-Defensive honors during the season.
