DALLAS —
Allison Howarth now has a Top 5 finish to her name, as she placed tied for fifth after the final round of the Dallas Baptist Golf Classic Tuesday.
Howarth (RS-Fr., San Antonio) carded a 73 and 74 for the tournament's 72-par course to tie for a career-best fifth place, knotting up with St. Edward's Haley Haught who also had a final stroke count of 147.
St. Edward's took home the tournament with a team score of 600 followed by Tarleton State, Arkansas Tech and Midwestern State. Arkansas Tech's Rebecka Surtevall won the individual title, shooting below par each round with a 71 carded in the first and an impressive 67 carded in the final round.
As a team the Rattlers finished eighth for the 15-team tournament with a team score of 652.
Howarth has now led the Rattlers for the fourth straight tournament, claiming a Top 10 finish her first three tournaments and can now add a Top 5 finish.
Daryn Petermann (Jr., Comfort, Texas) and
Heather Wedige (So., San Antonio) both finished tied for 50
th place with final scores of 168 followed by
Bailey Furgeson (Jr., Newcastle, Calif.) who finished one stroke behind to tie for 52
nd place.
Gabriella Villarreal (So., Rio Grande City, Texas) finished in 82
nd place.
The Dallas Baptist Golf Classic wrapped up the Rattlers' fall season for 2013. St. Mary's will tee off again at the St. Mary's Invitational starting Mon., Feb. 17 at the Dominion Golf Course.
