THACKERVILLE, Okla. — The St. Mary's University Women's Golf team finished the WinStar Invitational on a high note, shooting a final round best of 283 (-5) to finish in second place. The Rattlers were one of two schools to post a subpar round in the tournament, joining champion DBU, which was 11-under on day two.

StMU finished the three-day tournament with 874 strokes (295-296-283/+10), ending 18 shots off the lead by DBU (29-277-289=856/-8), and ahead of third-place West Texas A&M and Midwestern State by 16 strokes (890).

Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) tied for the lowest round of the tournament, firing a four-under 68 in the final round to jump four places. The senior shot 213 (73-72-68) over the three days, knotting Madison Ude from DBU for second, finishing one stroke behind Mia Hammerschmid from West Texas A&M. Wilczek did a lot of damage on the course on the par-4 holes, shooting five-under for an average of 3.83 strokes on par-4 scoring. On Tuesday in the final round, Wilczek eagled the par-5 ninth hole, added five birdies and scratched out par on nine other holes to tie the school record with nine career rounds in the 60s. She ties Maria Regina Gonzalez, who also carded nine rounds in the 60s during her career (2015-2019).

Junior Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) shot a career-low round of 69 on Tuesday to move up seven spots into a tie for eighth place. Lefebvre finished the tournament with 218 strokes, three off her career-low of 215 from last year at Texas State. She decreased her total in each round this week, posting scores of 75, 74 and 69 to finish two-over-par. She also led the field in par-5 scoring, shooting six-under on the long holes for an average of 4.50 strokes per par-5 hole.

Fellow junior Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) also made a big jump up the leaderboard on the final day, climbing eight spots into 12th place after she shot a 71 to end the first tournament of the year with 221 strokes (75-75-71/+5). It is the fourth time in her career she's shot a low round of 71, and all four have come in the Gold & Blue. Over the 54 holes, Perkins managed a tournament-high 41 pars, and she tied for the fewest bogeys in the field with six.

Junior Brielle Burns (Houston) finished in a tie for 14th place, recording 223 strokes over the three days (72-75-76/+7). Burns started Tuesday on a hot streak, birdieing two of the first three holes. She shot six bogeys and nine pars over the final 15 holes to end with 76 strokes.

Sophomore Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) remained in a tie for 27th place after turning in a season-best round of 75 on Tuesday. Verret totaled 228 strokes (76-77-75/+12), collecting six birdies over the three rounds.

Newcomer Audrey McIntyre (Austin, Texas) also held steady in the final round, remaining in a tie for 41st place after shooting a 79 in the final round. She ended with 237 strokes over the three rounds (80-78-79) and had three birdies in her 54 holes.

The Rattlers have two weeks off from competition, returning to the links on Monday, Sept. 28, at the DBU Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club.
