Women's Golf Jumps into Second Place After Two Rounds

THACKERVILLE, Okla. — Day two of the WinStar Invitational saw the St. Mary's University Women's Golf team climb two places on the leaderboard into second place with one round remaining.
 
The Rattlers remained consistent on the course, finishing eight-over par in round two, one shot more than the opening round on Sunday. The team is 24 shots behind host and defending national champion DBU, which shot 11-under par on Monday to take the lead. The Rattlers also hold a one-stroke lead over West Texas A&M, which held steady in third place.
 
After a rough first hole, senior Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) buckled down to shoot an even-par 72, recording three birdies and eight pars over the final 11 holes to move up five spots into sixth place overall.
 
Junior Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) also jumped five places on the leaderboard after shooting a 74 on Monday, and she is now tied for 15th overall (75-74=149/+5), while junior Brielle Burns (Houston) and junior Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) each carded rounds of 75 on Monday. Burns is tied for eighth place with 147 strokes, while Perkins is tied for 20th with 150. 
 
Sophomore Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) posted a second-round total of 77 and is tied for 27th overall (153), while sophomore Audrey McIntyre (Austin, Texas) took two strokes off her first round to card a 78 and sits in a tie for 41st place (158).
 
DBU's Madison Ude is now the leader in the individual race, holding a three-shot lead over Southeastern Oklahoma State's Emma Thompson.
 
Tuesday is the final day of the tournament, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
