PENSACOLA, Fla. — Scorching rounds by St. Mary's University golfers Guillaume Paquette and Philip Hallstrom led the Men's Golf team to a tie for third place at the Argonaut Invitational on Tuesday.

The golfers concluded the second round on Tuesday morning before beginning the final round, after they were cut short on Monday due to darkness.

Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) shot a 66 in the final round at the Pensacola Country Club to vault 10 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for fourth place. He finished the two-day tournament two shots off the lead with his three-round total of 207 (71-70-66/-9). His 66 is a career-low round on a par-72 course. Paquette collected seven birdies with one bogey and 10 pars in the final round

Not to be outdone, Hallstrom (Gävle, Sweden) carded a 67 on Tuesday to jump 30 places into 30th place. He matched Paquette with seven birdies in the final 18 holes, with two bogeys and nine pars to end the tournament with 218 strokes (75-76-67/+2).

Senior Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) continued his stellar final season with his sixth top-10 finish in eight tournaments, as he tied for sixth with a score of 208 (69-67-72/-8).

Senior Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) and sophomore Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) tied for 48th place after posting identical tournament scores of 222. Touchard shot rounds of 73, 72, and 77, while Galvan collected scores of 76, 76 and 70.

In the first round on the 12th hole, Touchard recorded the 200th birdie of his career, and now has 207 to his name, while Kaikaew collected his 1,000th career par hole with the 10th hole in round two, and he now has 1,017 in his collegiate career. Hallstrom enters postseason play needing only nine more pars to hit the same milestone after he hit 33 at the Argonaut.

Sacha Corlouer from Georgia Southwestern won the individual title with an 11-under-par total of 205, while host and top-ranked West Florida won the team title at -25 (839).
