Men's Golf Ends MSU Invitational in Fourth Place

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — For the sixth time in 2025-26, the St. Mary's University Men's Golf team finished in the top four at a tournament, placing fourth at the annual Midwestern State Invitational on Tuesday.
 
The Rattlers totaled 864 strokes over the three rounds to finish 12 over par, finishing behind UT Permian Basin (850), Odessa (856) and Cameron (863).
 
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec), Zach Seader (Bulverde, Texas), and Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) all recorded an eagle during the 54 holes, with Paquette's being a hole-in-one on the second hole on Tuesday. Seader also posted his eagle in the final round, scoring a three on the sixth hole, while Touchard eagled six during the first round on Monday.
 
Touchard was the top finisher on the individual leaderboard for the Rattlers, tying for 12th place with a 214, finishing 11 strokes behind Will Tate, from UT Permian Basin, who took home medalist honors with a 203. Touchard dropped nine spots in the final round after shooting a 75. He scored a 70 and 69 in the first two rounds to end Monday in a tie for third place.
 
Senior Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) came storming up the leaderboard on the final day, firing a four-under 67, taking nine strokes off his second-round score of 76, and five off his opening round of even, 72. Kaikaew finished tied for 17th with 215 strokes after missing the last tournament.
 
Paquette had one more stroke on his final card than Kaikaew, totaling 216 strokes for the tournament. After opening with a round of 75, Paquette posted sub-par rounds of 70 and 71 to finish tied for 22nd place. Paquette and Chase Kisver (Midwestern State) were the only two in the field to record a hole-in-one during the three rounds, with Kisver doing so on Tuesday on hole four.
 
Senior Philip Hallstrom (Gävle, Sweden) ended in a nine-way tie for 42nd place with his three-round total of 221. Hallstrom posted a 72 to open Monday, came back with a 76 in the second round and fired a 73 on Tuesday. The 221 is his best tournament total of the spring, with one regular-season tournament remaining.
 
Sophomore Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) finished the MSU Invite with 225 strokes, taking one shot off each round as he turned in cards of 76, 75 and 74 to end in an eight-way tie for 61st place.

Both Connor Smith (The Hills, Texas) and Seader competed as individuals in the field, finishing tied for 74th and tied for 98th, respectively. Smith struggled in the opening round with an 81, but bounced back to shoot 73 and 74 in the final two rounds, while Seader also got better as the tournament went on, posting an 81 in the first round and then a 79 on Monday afternoon and a 76 on Tuesday.
 
The Rattlers wrap up the regular season at the Argonaut Invitational on March 30-31 in Pensacola, Fla., before taking on the Lone Star Conference Championship April 20-21 in Rockwall.
