SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Men's Golf team couldn't overtake a hot-shooting Midwestern State team, finishing second at the Rattler Invitational, hosted by StMU at the Dominion Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The Mustangs won the tournament by 13 strokes over the Rattlers, who shot an 877 over 56 holes (289-291-297/+13). Nathan Biais from Northwestern State won medalist honors with a four-under-par 212, firing a 68 in the final round.

Senior Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) tied for 10th place after turning in a 220 (72-72-76/+4). Sophomore Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) was two strokes behind Touchard, taking one stroke off each round to end with a 222 (75-74-73/+6), and finish tied for 19th.

Senior Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) and sophomore Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) tied for 27th place after turning in identical totals of 224 strokes. Hallstrom collected the team's only eagle of the tournament on hole nine in the first round on Monday, and Paquette finished third in the 87-player field with 11 birdies.

Junior Connor Smith (The Hills, Texas) and sophomore Zach Seader (Bulverde, Texas) both competed as individuals. Smith finished tied for 19th, while Seader was 22nd. Smith recorded rounds of 75-72-75 for a three-round total of 222, while Seader was one stroke behind him at 223 (71-72-80/+7). In the 54 holes, Smith recorded 39 pars, which was tied for the second-highest total in the field.

The Rattlers head to Nevada for the Las Vegas Desert Classic on March 1-3 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, the site of the 2026 NCAA Championship. Touchard is the defending individual champion of the LVDC after winning in 2025 by one stroke.
