10/26/2026 10:19:00 PM

SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Men's Golf team sits in seventh place after almost two complete rounds at the NCAA West/South Central Region Preview at the Dominion Country Club.

Two golfers were unable to finish the second round due to darkness, and will conclude their final hole on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. The remaining 88 golfers will wait and begin the third and final round at 8:45 a.m. in a shotgun start on the par-72 course.

UT Permian Basin leads the field by eight strokes at 16-under par for 36 holes, while Midwestern State and Oklahoma Christian are tied for second at 8-under. Christian Yanovitch from the Eagles holds a one-stroke advantage over Cal State Dominguez Hills golfer Anthony Asta on the individual leaderboard.

The Rattlers are currently five under after combining for a round of 280 in the afternoon (-8) to climb four spots on the leaderboard into seventh, while the four-player B team is in 17th place.

Freshman Matthew Lewis (Arlington, Texas) rocketed 10 spots up the leaderboard after posting a career-low round of 66 in the afternoon, and is in third place with 136 strokes (70-66). Eight of the 11 rounds that Lewis has turned in this fall have been par or better, and the second round on Monday was the fourth round he's posted in the 60s.

Junior Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) shaved five shots off his morning round to shoot a 68 in the afternoon and move up 26 spots into a tie for 17th, while freshman Fabrizio De Abreu (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa) is tied for 38th after posting rounds of 72 and 73.

Four Rattlers are tied for 57th place, as freshmen Diego Serrano (Corregidora, Queretaro, Mexico) and Daniel Levy (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Connor Smith (The Hills, Texas) each shot a 76 in the first round and came back with a 73 in the afternoon, while senior Philip Hallstrom (Gavle, Sweden) turned in rounds of 74 and 75.

Freshman Ethan McGregor (Panama City Beach, Fla.), golfing in his first tournament for the Gold and Blue (along with Serrano) is tied for 68th place after his back-to-back rounds of 75, and junior Zach Seader (Bulverde, Texas) carded identical rounds of 76 and is tied for 77th.

St. Mary's will golf with Cal State San Marcos and Western New Mexico on Tuesday, though the pairings will not be set until the conclusion of the second round on Tuesday morning.
