SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The No. 13 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team jumped three spots to finish fourth at the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational at the Powder Horn Golf Club on Tuesday, shooting a final round of 288 (+2).
Senior
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) made the biggest jump on day two, shooting an even-par 72 to climb into a tie for 30th place, moving up 13 spots on the leaderboard. Fellow senior
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) matched Touchard with a 72, finishing the tournament tied for 27th place with a 151 (+7).
Both sophomores
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) and
Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) carded rounds of 73 on Tuesday. Paquette finished tied for 11th with a 145, while Galvan was right behind him in a tie for 14th with his two-day total of 147 (74-73/+3).
Junior Philip Hallstrom (Gävle, Sweden) finished between Galvan and Kaikaew, tying for 18th place with his two-round 148 (73-75/+7).
Four of the five Rattlers recorded at least one eagle during the 36-hole tournament, with Galvan, Kaikaew and Touchard all posting an eagle on the seventh hole. Paquette recorded his eagle on 18, while he also had one on hole 12 on Monday.
Colorado Mesa won the team title, recording a 563 for the two days, while the Mavericks' Dylan Everett was the only player in the field to shoot sub-par both rounds, winning the title with a 136 (69-67/-8) to win by five strokes.
The Rattlers next compete at the Skip Wagnon Invitational on Oct. 6-7 at the KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.
