SAN ANTONIO — After excelling both on the diamond and in the classroom this season, five St. Mary's University Softball student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams on Tuesday.

The Rattlers had sophomore Gabriela Banda (San Antonio), senior Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.), junior Abigail Dela Rosa (La Grange, Texas), graduate student Lauren Gonzales (San Antonio) and junior Raegan Tennill (Corpus Christi, Texas) named to the team.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and perform at an elite level within their sport. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.

There were 27 student-athletes from the Lone Star Conference honored on the team.

Banda, who started in 54 of the 55 games this season for the Rattlers, hit .335, leading the team with 15 doubles, and she tied for the team lead with six home runs. The San Antonio native led the Lone Star Conference with 2.46 assists per game, ranking 34th nationally, and was tabbed to the Lone Star All-Conference Third Team. The sophomore is majoring in biology, and this is her first selection to the Academic All-District team.

Bloom wrapped up a stellar career in 2025, earning Second-Team All-Lone Star Conference honors. She had a team-best 2.40 ERA with 10 wins, 11 complete games and three shutouts in her final campaign. Two of her 10 victories came against UT Tyler, which is playing for the NCAA Division II Championship this week. Bloom graduated with a degree in English Language Arts & Reading and will become a teacher. 2025 is her first time being honored by the CSC.

Dela Rosa was the only Rattler to start all 55 games during the season, hitting .364 as the everyday centerfielder. She ranked sixth in the Lone Star and 28th in the nation with six triples and added eight doubles. Dela Rosa was third on the team with six stolen bases and drove in 29 RBIs from the ninth spot in the batting order. She is majoring in Psychology, and this is also her first appearance on the All-District Team.

Gonzales was named to the Academic All-District team for the second-straight season, graduating with her master's degree in business administration after earning her bachelor's degree in marketing. She earned Lone Star All-Conference Third-Team honors after starting 54 games in left field. Gonzales led the team with a .371 batting average, getting 66 hits and stealing a team-best 16 bases.

Tennill also earned her second-straight nod to the team. Majoring in exercise & sport science, the junior third baseman started in 51 games, despite playing the majority of the season with a broken thumb. She hit .290 for the year with nine doubles, two triples and a home run, and was second on the team with nine stolen bases. She ranked 11th in the extremely tough LSC with 0.53 walks per game, and tied for the team lead by drawing 27 walks.

All five Rattlers have been named to multiple Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Rolls, and three of the five return to the team in 2026.
