SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Softball team, fresh off an appearance in the NCAA South Central Regional, had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Seniors
Abigail Dela Rosa (La Grange, Texas),
Raegan Tennill (Corpus Christi, Texas) and juniors
Gabriela Banda (San Antonio),
Samiya Johnson (Corpus Christi) and
Iliana Melendez (Seabrook, Texas) all earned the honor.
This is the second-straight year that Banda and Dela Rosa have been awarded, while it is the third time for Tennill. Melendez was named to the Lone Star All-Academic team earlier this season.
Banda, who was voted to the LSC All-Conference Second Team, finished the year hitting .359 with a team-best 19 doubles and seven home runs. She is pursuing a degree in biology and has one season of eligibility remaining.
Dela Rosa, who earned her bachelor's degree in psychology, hit .315 in her final season with eight doubles, one triple and 15 stolen bases. She also collected nine outfield assists, wrapping up her career with 40 steals and 117 hits.
Johnson is also working on a bachelor's degree in biology as she earns her first-ever Academic All-District nod. The right fielder hit .262 with seven doubles and two home runs, and played error-free ball with 84 putouts and three assists during the 2026 campaign.
Melendez, the third of the Rattlers' outfielders to be honored, is studying bioinformatics at St. Mary's. She started all 55 games in her first year with the team, hitting .340 and leading the way with 13 sacrifice bunts, and swiping 12 bases.
Tennill graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise & sport science and was a Third-Team All-Conference pick in the LSC. She hit .328, starting all 55 games at shortstop and was a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen bases. She leaves StMU with the school record in sacrifice flies (15).
