PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Capping off one of the best seasons in school history, the No. 15 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 2 West Florida in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship during Medal Match Play on Thursday.
It was the Rattlers' first-ever appearance in Medal Match Play after recording their highest-ever finish during stroke play, placing seventh on Wednesday.
Juniors
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) and
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) and freshman
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) all shot rounds of 75 on Thursday, while freshman
Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) carded a 77 and sophomore
Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) posted a round of 78.
The only senior on the 2024-25 team is
Jose Maria Gallegos (Ahome, Mexico), who did not compete at the NCAA Championship. Gallegos graduated with a degree in international business after spending two-and-a-half years with the Rattlers. He was named to four Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Rolls.
The remainder of the roster has at least one season of eligibility remaining, including First-Team All-Conference selections Kaikaew and Touchard.
