NORMAN, Okla. — As the St. Mary's University Men's Golf team finishes final examinations before heading to Palm Beach to take part in the NCAA Championship, the Golf Coaches Association (GCAA) has announced that both
Kongpop Kaikaew and
Baptiste Touchard have earned NCAA Division II PING All-Region honors.
Kaikaew, a junior from Rayong, Thailand has placed in the top 25 in seven of the team's 11 tournaments this season, leading the team three times. He won the Fujikura Invitational to begin the spring campaign and has four other top 10 finishes to go with his title. He was a First-Team All-Lone Star Conference selection and enters the NCAA Championship with a 71.97 stroke per round average.
A junior from Saint-Agathon, France, Touchard has finished in the top 25 in all 11 tournaments and was also tabbed to the Lone Star All-Conference First Team. He won both the Hrnciar Invitational and the Las Vegas Desert Classic this season and is coming off a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Regionals. Touchard is averaging 71.59 strokes per round and leads the team with 395 pars and 110 birdies this season in 34 rounds.
This is the first All-Region award for either golfer.
