NASHVILLE, Tenn. — When a season comes to an end, it's rarely with a win, or what the coaches were hoping for. Despite the 13-4 loss to No. 5 Concordia Irvine in the second round of the National Championship for the No. 10 St. Mary's University STUNT team, Head Coach
Jordan VanTimmeren saw many positives to take away.
For the first time this season, the Rattlers won routine seven in pyramids & tosses, scoring the point in the first round of the second quarter. It was only the fourth time the team attempted the routine in a competition, losing the point once, and twice, no points were awarded – including the first round on Thursday against DBU.
The Rattlers wrap up the third season of competition with a record of 13-12 and a third-straight appearance at the National Championship.
The team scored their points on routine one in quarter one (partner stunts), routine seven in the second quarter, and in the team routines, they won the partner stunts portion of routine three and tied on pyramids & tosses in routine four. The final two rounds of the fourth quarter were not completed due to the mercy rule in effect during the tournament.
St. Mary's says goodbye to seniors
Helena Griffith (Houston),
Allysin Quintanilla (San Juan, Texas), and
Amanda Urrutia (El Paso, Texas). The trio was part of the STUNT program from its inception in 2023.
