ROUND ROCK, Texas — For the first time in program history, St. Mary's University Women's Golf has an individual Lone Star Conference champion.
Savannah Dupre, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, won the 2025 Championship by one stroke (212=71-71-70/-4) over West Texas A&M senior Gam Songprasert (213=69-71-73/-3), and they were the only two to finish the tournament under par. The pair were in the same grouping on Tuesday, along with Midwestern State's Alli Reily, beginning on hole one, with Songprasert holding a two-stroke lead headed into the final 18 holes.
Songprasert bogeyed two, and Dupre responded with back-to-back birdies on holes three and four to take the lead. The pair were tied after Dupre bogeyed seven and Songprasert recorded a birdie, but two holes later Dupre regained the lead with a birdie on nine, and she never relinquished the lead.
Dupre is the fourth Rattler to win a conference individual title as Jillian Wyne (2002), Marla Troester (2004) and Jessica Harbin (2006) all won the Heartland Conference Championship. It is the second tournament Dupre has won this season, along with the Rattler Invitational, and the third title of her career (MSU Invitational, 2024).
Dupre tied for the tournament lead with 12 birdies, was one of nine athletes to record an eagle at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club, and added 32 pars over the 54-hole tournament.
St. Mary's finished second during stroke play, shooting a three-round total of 885 (291-292-302/+21), ending 13 shots behind WT (872=286-294-292/+3). Midwestern State placed third with 887 strokes, and DBU rounds out the four that advance to medal match play with an 893. Second place is the highest finish for the Rattlers since joining the Lone Star Conference. The 2021 and 2023 teams both placed third.
Senior
Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) tied for 12th in the 62-player field after turning in a three-round total of 224 (76-70-78/+8). Sophomore
Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) climbed two places on the leaderboard after firing a 76 on Tuesday to end tied for 15th place with 226 strokes (75-75-76/+10).
Fellow sophomore
Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) was one spot behind Lefebvre, tying for 18th place at 227 (72-76-79/+11) and senior
Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) shaved six shots off her second round total to wind up in 34th place with 235 (73-84-78/+19).
St. Mary's faces Midwestern State in the semifinals of medal match play on Wednesday. The teams will begin on hole 10 and tee off every nine minutes. West Texas A&M and DBU will begin on hole 1. The two winners will meet in the finals, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., weather permitting. The forecast for Wednesday in Rockwall is calling for showers and a possible thunderstorm in the morning.
